Salishan

We love working at the Oregon Coast and this project was not an exception. Tucked into the serene of rolling hills of Salishan Golf Resort, surrounded by old growth Doug firs, cedars and spruce trees, this midcentury-modern coastal bungalow had an unfinished walkout basement that the new owners were ready to utilize to fit their unique aesthetic and functional needs.

The homeowners, newly relocated from Hawaii, wanted to utilize the existing plumbing that was initially set up for a bathroom in the unfinished basement and finish the rest of the basement to accommodate their guests. One of the homeowners is a musician so he wanted integrated flush speakers in the ceiling and some sound deadening.

We were able to provide a sound-attenuating detail to cut down on the sound transfer through the floor above by separating the drywall lid from the wood framing. And in our design meetings with the homeowners, we came up with an island inspired tile combination that the clients and their guests really love. And so do we!
